A debate between the Republican presidential candidates will be shown on MSNBC tonight. Here’s the list of candidates who will be participating tonight:
- Sam Brownback
- Jim Gilmore
- Rudy Giuliani
- Mike Huckabee
- Duncan Hunter
- John McCain
- Ron Paul
- Mitt Romney
- Tom Tancredo
- Tommy Thompson
There’s rumors that seven of the ten candidates are in danger of not being invited to the next debate. Apparently, MSNBC has set the polling cutoff at 1%, and only three men, Giuliani, McCain, and Romney, are the only candidates consistently polling at that level.
Here’s hoping that Ron Paul presents himself well tonight, and is invited to that later debates. As I’ve said before, he’s the one candidate who I think can honestly debate the issues.

As of 9:30 central time tonight, Ron Paul is doing much better than I expected. Did not get to see the debate, but based on a poll in drudgereport.com the top 4 are:
Romney 32%
Guliani 23%
Paul 13% (He is in 3rd place. Did not see the debate, but he seems to have come from nowhere and made a respectable showing, at least based in this poll)
Thompson 10%
None of the rest did very well at all. Again based on the poll at 9:30, the biggest looser tonight was Mc Cain.
All of this and I don’t think that the guy that will get the nomination is even in the race yet.
It’s the day after, and there is still a lot of buzz around Ron Paul… most of it saying that he didn’t get a lot of camera time, but he performed the best out of the “other guys”.
